GCN Launches Fourth Edition of The Meaning of Work

Here’s some good news on Labor Day. GCN Press, the publishing branch of Global Commerce Network, has just launched the fourth edition of The Meaning of Work: A Practical Theology of Work and Rest.

Why is this book so important? First, most people have no concept of the profound meaning of our work in God’s eyes, as shown in the Scriptures. One large survey of believing college students found that only 4 percent had even a basic notion of what the Scriptures say about work. And the Barna Research Group has found that young professionals get almost no vocational help or guidance about work from fellow Christians.

This elegantly designed new edition of the study guide aims to close these gaps in our understanding about work and rest.

Written and developed primarily by our good friend Donald McGilchrist, who passed away a couple of years ago, this book is probably the best source out there to help any person discover what the Scriptures say about work. Remarkably, the Scriptures demonstrate how central our daily work is to God's purposes, regardless of what we do.

Importantly, the last section of the book focuses on rest! Not surprisingly, the Scriptures have some amazing things to say about that topic. Seeing those truths about rest will likely motivate you to rethink your life.

The new version can be used in small groups or for your personal reading time. You can learn more about the book at the link below, where you will also find direct purchase links to the book on various online retail bookstores.
